Meg Henderson grew up in Calgary, Alberta and did her Bachelor of Arts in Quebec for Hispanic and French Studies. She is currently working on her Bachelor of Education at Yukon College, in the Yukon Native Teacher Education Program (YNTEP). Meg has been working with kids for over a decade and her passion for working with and helping youth of all ages is what lead her to pursue an education degree. Along with her passion for working with kids, she is highly enthusiastic about art of all forms, whether participating in, or solely admiring them. She organised and directed arts camps for the Heart of Riverdale last year, and is excited to do the same for Arts Underground this summer!
During these five days, children will be working towards creating a small art gallery exhibit for family and friends to view at the end of the week. Meg will guide children through exploring the basics of visual arts through numerous diverse projects in 2D and 3D forms. This camp is designed to help children learn about different art mediums and techniques Meg has learned through her years of exploring art; portrait sketching, stamp making, art with natural and found materials, sculpture with premo sculpey and plasticine and more. Meg has truly found visual art to be an outlet and a great form of expression; she hopes participating campers will find this as well!
This camp is great for all young artists, from those who are art fanatics to those who may be slightly more hesitant about jumping into visual arts.
