Transform a simple set of ready-made hoops into an intricate and unique pair of beaded earrings using brick stitch. (Brick stitch is the technique commonly used to make the triangular top of beaded fringe earrings.) Using the hoop as a spine, a semi-circular band of concentric lines of glittering beads are added on top of each other to create a layered bead fabric. Sheelah will guide you in learning about your materials, how to create the stitch, and how to modify it to build your embellished earrings.
You will leave the class with at least one-half of a completed pair of earrings, a printed instruction guide, and the knowledge to create new designs of your own. Students will be able to pick from a variety of colour-coordinated premade kits which will include hoops, thread, needles and seed beads ranging from size 13o (1.5mm) up to larger accent crystals (4-6mm). Students are also welcome bring their own beads.
