Brush, layer, melt, collage, scrape - encaustic painting is based in beeswax so you can sculpt the paint in lots of ways. Instructor Nicole Bauberger has been working with encaustic since the mid-90s and has offered countless workshops. After a brief intro to the medium, participants dive in, experimenting with colour and heat guns. Nicole demonstrates techniques tailored to student interest over the course of the workshop - you can follow along with her or pursue your own experiments. At the end of the class, we'll look at what we've made and talk about it together. Encaustic is a challenging medium - easy to make something cool but it's hard to make it do what you want it to. Come with a sense of adventure!
