Youth Artist Monthly Features

The Youth Artist Feature is an initiative started by The Yukon Art Society to give young and emerging artists the opportunity to showcase their work for 1 month in our Members’ Gallery. This gives them the chance to experience selling their artwork in a gallery setting and get a sense of what work they might want to focus on going forward.

Young artists ages 13 - 20 are encouraged to apply.

Artists will be given a small display area of either 1 plinth (approximately 1.36 ft²) or wall space equal to approximately 60" in our Members’ gallery, and any artwork sold will only be charged a 5% commission fee.

Any mediums are welcome, but all artwork must follow all the gallery guidelines.

Artwork will not be accepted for sale/display at Arts Underground if:

  • The artwork lacks appropriate display hardware.

  • The artwork is not dry or cured

  • The artwork or any associated hardware is damaged.

  • The artwork violates copyright law (ie. using known comic characters, Disney characters, registered logos, etc)

  • The artwork is deemed to be cultural appropriation

  • The artwork is incomplete.

2D ORIGINAL ARTWORK
(painting, photography, illustration, printmaking, etc.)

  • Artwork must be ready-to-hang:

  • Paint, adhesive, and other media must be completely cured (dry)

  • Professional hanging hardware must be affixed.

CARDS AND PRINTS

  • Reproduction prints must be mounted on foam core, matboard, or another stiff surface, and either shrink wrapped or packaged in a plastic sleeve.

  • Greeting cards must be packaged for sale with an appropriate-sized envelope in a plastic sleeve or other packaging material. This ensures the cards are protected from damage while on display, and the envelope doesn’t get lost.

  • Arts Underground has a small number of packing materials available for sale here
