Forest Nymph Creations
EDGE GALLERY
September 5 - 27, 2025
Opening Reception: September 5, 5-7pm
This exhibit is dedicated to the spirit of the forest. The forest has breathed so much into me as an artist and human. Whether it be her singing me a lullaby with her wind song through the plants and trees, the peaceful haven that tree trunks, roots, and canopy bring or, literal oxygen. The forest is where I am given the space to return to myself amidst the chaos of a loud and sometimes confusing and overwhelming world.
I have gotten healing from the forest, from God and from creating art. I love the artistic journey I am on, where I am the biggest art piece I will ever work on. I love seeing my ideas come to life, and it excites me that my hands, my mind, my creativity, and my spiritual downloads have brought forth an expression of beauty into the world.
One step barefoot onto Mother Earth and I am simultaneously so small and yet a part of something so beautifully wild, big, and precious! I am so grateful for the many gifts of the forest, whether it be the berries, the medicines, the gift of peace, of presence, of connectedness, and the greatest inspiration. Most of the things I create are connected to and inspired by Mother Earth.
In my art pieces I try to embody the forest nymph/spirit and create decorations for the forest loving hippie child! I want my pieces to show a love for the natural world and a connection to spirituality and playfulness while walking our beautiful journeys on this earth. You will find a lot of earthy and natural color palettes in my work, as well as designs inspired by the spirit of the forest and the cosmos.
Look for the North Star in some of my pieces as it is my signature and demonstrates where I come from, my search for my true north and the cross over between the earthly and higher realms.
ALICIA HARRY
Alicia Harry, with a rich heritage of Inuvialuit, English, Scottish, and Irish roots, calls Inuvik in the NWT her home. Currently, she resides in Whitehorse, Yukon, on the traditional lands of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'än Council. Alicia's creative journey was nurtured from a young age by her artistic family - her mother taught her crocheting and embroidery, while her father's heartfelt stone carvings shaped her design sensibilities.
Deeply connected to the natural world, Alicia often seeks inspiration in the wilderness, foraging for materials that reflect the beauty, flow, and tranquility of nature. She integrates these elements into her artwork, exploring various genres and materials. For Alicia, the forest and spirituality play crucial roles in her creative process.
In 2022, Alicia completed the Yukon First Nations Arts Program at Yukon University where she gained skills in beadwork, sewing, traditional footwear, drawing, carving, and fine craftwork. The knowledge she gained is now integrated into her art. In her home studio, she creates bohemian-style dreamcatchers, jewelry, and beaded pieces. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and has led several successful workshops, with her work often selling out at festival galleries and art markets. Alicia aims to protect and honour the environment by using natural materials and minimizing commercial products in her art. Guided by her heart and joy, Alicia finds fulfilment in forest bathing, working in her studio, creative writing, and singing. Like her parents she now encourages her four children to be creative, imaginative and to dream big!
