Student Curator and Special Events Assistant Programmer

Location:  Whitehorse, Yukon
Hours:  35 hours/week for 10 weeks, starting mid-June 2026
Hours of work are Tuesday – Saturday, with occasional evenings/weekends depending on events
Starting Wage:  $22/hour
Duration:  Temporary (Summer Student position)
Job Closes: June 3, 2026

Yukon Art Society is looking for a dynamic individual to support our Arts Underground operations this summer as Student Curator and Special Events Programmer.

The successful candidate should posses the following qualifications and skills:

    The Student Curator and Special Events Assistant Programmer will be assisting with monthly exhibition curation, development and implementation of special events, and support in Arts Underground with sales and art displays.

Duties Include:

  • Liaising with artists and managing art and related items for exhibitions alongside the lead Curator

  • Inputting inventory and online representation for exhibitions and Galleries

  • Assisting with promotion of exhibitions and events

  • Organizing and executing special events and workshops alongside the Programming Director

  • Front of House Support including assisting the Front of House Manager with curating the Member’s Gallery; sales of art, art supplies, and workshops; and ceramic studio user support.

This position will support all aspects of the Arts underground operation, and will offer diverse training in an art gallery, art retail, and art studio environment.
