Learn the basics of hand building pottery in four sessions. Your instructor Chris will guide you through a series of projects that cover the core techniques of pinching, coiling, slab-rolling and press-forming clay. By the end of the third evening, you’ll have made at least five pottery items. Project choices include soap dish, jewellery dish, mug, cup, caddy, bowl, serving dish, vase and pitcher.
At the fourth session, you’ll apply ceramic glazes to your fired items and submit them to a “glaze firing” that will transform them into resilient stoneware pottery. Each item you make will be a one-of-a-kind piece owing to your unique design and glaze choices.
Although geared toward beginners, this class can accommodate learners with prior ceramics experience. Experienced participants will be challenged to work to a higher standard and to tackle more advanced forms or decorating techniques.
